NEW
EXHIBITS
Many
exciting plans includes providing
recognition of the artistic
achievements of young
artists and exposing them to
illustrators and upcoming artists
selected with the help of our
Student Board, art students
recommended by their instructors
from local high
schools.
LMFA hopes
to secure two exhibits annually
that highlight Children's
Literature or artists and
illustrators for families to
enjoy together. Our first
exhibit was by author and
illustrator William Joyce,
creator of Rolie Polie Olie,
George Shrinks and Dinosaur
Bob in the fall of 2004 from the
National Center for Children's
Illustrated Literature in
Abilene, Texas. To view examples
of their featured
author/illustrators, visit
the
NCCIL
Website.
NEW
ART ACTIVITIES
Hiring additional personnel to manage
programming will help LMFA enrich the
community with a variety of activities that
focus on serving both children and adults.
Programming will be designed to accentuate an
appreciation of the visual arts, stimulate
creativity, and promote literacy. Collaboration
with other agencies and groups in the community
are planned. Activities which will be
implemented may include Summer Art Workshops and
Camps, Art in Education Museum Tours, Family Fun
Events, and Workshops for Educators.
