The mission of ArtWorks is to cultivate a center of learning that celebrates art, increases knowledge, enriches the spirit and encourages thoughtful analysis and dialogue. Through our school programs, classes, special events and support of our artistic community, we strive to create meaningful experiences that will enhance and transform the lives of our growing and diverse community.
Longview Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to provide enlightening learning experiences for the students in our community. Classes & Studio Time
LMFA ArtWorks offers classes that cover a wide variety of media and subject matter for adults and kids throughout the year. The museum brings in local, regional, and nationally known artists to provide instruction for beginner and skilled artists alike. Artworks also hosts open studio time to allow artists to freely create outside of a structured class. Click here to see some of the classes that are coming up and a schedule for studio times.
LMFA is proud to host local art groups in an effort to foster growth of local and regional artists. We host art groups that cover several different media and methods. Click here to find out more about how to get involved in one of the art groups.
The Junior League of Longview has long been a partner with the museum, since the Junior Service League began collecting art in 1958. The JLL has contributed to funds to the building of the museum for classrooms, an ice machine for the kitchen area and money to fund supplies and scholarships. In 2013, the League awarded LMFA $50,000 to build a new classroom in the new education center. LMFA treasures its relationship with the League and shares the museum building with the League for meetings and social events.
