Event Description
CURRICULUM:
Day 1: Intro to Comics
-students need: a mirror to see their face!
-We’ll be drawing pictures of ourselves and of each other’s faces, focusing on pushing
expression and working quickly to define shape!
Day 2: Cartoon Yourself
-students need: their favorite outfit!
-We’ll be taking the skills we learned the day before and building on them to draw a
body. At the end of the day, we will have drawn a picture of ourselves as a cartoon
character wearing our favorite outfit!
Day 3: Drawing a Scene
-students need: an idea and to be ready to ink!
-Today we’ll take our drawings of ourselves and give them a setting! We’ll discuss how
to draw a believable background, and use panels to create drama and pacing.
-By the end of this day, we should have a short comic about something that we do
everyday.
Day 4: Drawing a Fantasy
-students need: to get excited to make their finished piece!
-Today we’ll take our skills from all of the days before and ink a finished comic! We’ll
make a sketch on our newspaper sketch paper, then use bristol board and a lightbox to
get good, clean lines.
