This project is inspired by Liz Hickok’s crystal creations. Using a myriad of materials kids will create their own miniature cityscapes, natural settings or abstract scenes within a display container. The dioramas will then be flooded with a liquid crystal solution (safe and non-toxic). Over the course of the following days and weeks, crystals will form and grow in unpredictable ways, giving the appearance of an other-worldly landscape!
As an added bonus, Liz Hickok will return on July 13 (1 – 3 pm), to meet with the participants and show them first-hand how she creates her amazing work. Those partaking in this experience will create backdrops using paint and collage. Using these backdrops and dramatic lighting, participants will then photograph their crystal scenes. Everyone will leave with a printed photograph of their sculpture.
This is truly a unique opportunity for kids to meet the artist, and see how Liz creates her works of art! To learn more about Liz Hickok please visit her website www.lizhickok.com
After being exhibited in the gallery space, the young artists will be able to pick up their masterpieces to take home.
Cost of this experience is $25 / This opportunity is available for ages 7- 14
