July 6 - September 21
Opening: July 13, 2019
LMFA is thrilled to present this solo exhibition by San Francisco artist Liz Hickok. With glowing colors and shifts in scale, Hickok’s work calls into question what is real and what is imagined. She uses ephemeral materials such as liquid crystal solutions and constructs colorful, glowing architectural sculptures that change over time, morphing into fantastical worlds. She documents her “scientific process” with photography and video to catch fleeting moments in the continuously evolving scenes.
Hickok’s Cityscapes in Jell-O series attracted media attention, receiving coverage in The New York Times and features on the CBS’s The Early Show and NPR.
We will also be displaying some of the artist’s scale models used in her photographic constructions, and she will be giving an artist talk before the opening reception on Saturday July 13th.
