Jason Carrasco is the grandson of Elissie “Liz”
John. From childhood until his early 20s, he
traveled with his grandparents to numerous Native
American arts and crafts shows across the US
where he was immersed in Native American culture.
More importantly, on these trips his grandparents
educated him in the ways of his own people
including Koasati language lessons.
A graduate in Fine Art from Tyler Junior College,
Jason shares his culture in a modern art context.
His art explores what it is to be Native American in
the modern world while being rooted in the past.
