Flowers (and their roots) from the day before yesterday by Diego Loya
This exhibition features the work of East Texas/Dallas-based artist Diego Loya, presenting a deeply personal and evocative body of work that explores themes of family, identity, and the Mexican immigrant experience. Through sculpture and installation, Loya confronts the complex and often challenging narratives surrounding immigration, drawing on his own heritage and family history to create poignant visual dialogues.
The title Flores (y sus raíces) Del Antier — literally Flowers (and their roots) from the day before yesterday — suggests reflection on origins and memory, metaphorically linking growth, legacy, and cultural roots. The works in the exhibition use symbolic materials and forms to illuminate stories of movement, belonging, and the forces that shape identity.
LMFA promoted the opening of this show (alongside another concurrent exhibition), emphasizing how Loya’s work brings family histories and questions of immigration and identity to life through bold, meaningful installations that engage visitors emotionally and intellectually.
