Native Perspectives : America 250

A landmark exhibition developed in collaboration with Caddo Artist Chase Kahwinhut Earles

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Longview Museum of Fine Arts presents  Native Perspectives: America 250; a major regional exhibition highlighting contemporary Indigenous artists from across the American South. Bringing together works rooted in ancestral knowledge and present-day cultural expression, the exhibition offers a powerful exploration of identity, resilience, and artistic innovation within Native communities.

Visitors will experience a dynamic range of media, including traditional pottery, basketry, beadwork, painting, printmaking, collage, and mixed media works. More than an art exhibition, this exhibition serves as a platform for dialogue, education, and reflection—honoring the enduring legacy and creativity of Indigenous peoples whose histories and cultures continue to shape the American story.

The exhibition features thirteen artists representing eleven tribes, including Choctaw, Cherokee, Seminole, Chickasaw, Muscogee, Coushatta, Otoe-Missouria, Delaware, Sac and Fox, and Caddo Nations. Featured artists include Martha Berry, Jackie Bullard, Jason Carrasco, Dylan Cavin, Chase Kahwinhut Earles, Tom Farris, Yonavea Hawkins, Elissie John, Bobby C. Martin, Jeri and Moira Redcorn, Tony Tiger, and Billy Hensley.

Developed by LMFA’s curatorial team—Executive Director and Curator of Exhibitions Tiffany Jehorek and Curator of Collections and Preparator Derek Frazier—in collaboration with acclaimed Caddo artist Chase Kahwinhut Earles, the exhibition centers Indigenous voices throughout the curatorial process. Earles’ work is held in the collections of nearly thirty museums and institutions nationwide, including the Smithsonian Institution, Dallas Museum of Art, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
