Sandra Skoog

Sandra’s connection with LMFA dates to the museum’s location on College Street in the 1980’s when she began volunteering with the Junior League of Longview in the Summer Arts Program. She and her husband, Eric, have been supporters for decades and have marveled at LMFA’s tremendous growth and its many enhancements that have reinvigorated downtown. They excitedly look forward to the next steps in making LMFA the premiere cultural destination in Northeast Texas.

With 30 years in public education as a high school teacher and counselor, Sandra’s main passion is enriching our children’s minds and lives through the arts. As a volunteer docent for the George Rodrigue “Blue Dog” exhibit, she, along with staff and other volunteers, exposed hundreds of local school children to a cultural experience unknown to most of them or their families.

Sandra has a long history of volunteerism with the Junior League of Longview, Longview Community Ministries, Gregg County Master Gardeners, Newgate Ministries, Partners in Prevention, Deep East Texas A & M Mothers’ Club, DAR, Longview Arboretum, Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs, Boy Scouts, and the Linden Heritage Foundation.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, playing Mah Jongg and Bunco, renovating her family’s farmhouse, and managing the Cass Count family homestead which was settled in 1856.

Her greatest delight, however, are her two grandsons: Carson (5) and Jackson (1) who have happily settled in Longview with their parents, Dr. Emily and Dr. Hunter Skoog.
