John Sloan is the founding partner of the law firm of Sloan, Hatcher, Perry, Runge, Robertson, Smith & Jones and has been based in the firm’s Longview office since 1983. John has deep roots in Northeast Texas, having spent his childhood and young adult years in Henderson. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University in 1977 and graduated from the Baylor School of Law in 1980. John attended the Trial Lawyers College as a student in 1998. He joined the TLC Board of Directors in 2009 and is currently serving as President. He also teaches lawyers how to better represent their clients as a member of the faculty of the Trial Lawyers College.
In his personal time, John enjoys participating in triathlons, hunting, and many other outdoor activities. His primary interest is his small farm outside Longview, where he grows trees and unwinds from his busy
I law practice. He is married to the former Dee Anne Allen from Tyler, Texas, and they have two children,
Trey, 36, and Nika, 17.
